Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
myvirtualteacher.ai (“we,” “us”) provides an AI avatar teacher for students, families, educators, and schools. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
2. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Account details, such as name, email address, role (student, parent, educator, administrator), and school or organization.
- Learning content you share in sessions, such as questions, messages, uploaded images or documents, and work shown to the camera.
- Voice audio, when you choose to talk with your teacher.
- Messages you send us, for example when you book a demo or contact support.
Information collected automatically
- Learning activity, such as sessions, progress, and mastery estimates.
- Device and usage information, such as browser type, device type, and pages visited, including through cookies and similar technologies that keep the site working and help us understand how it is used.
3. How we use information
- To provide and personalize tutoring, including adapting pacing and remembering a learner's progress.
- To give teachers, parents, and administrators the progress reporting they are entitled to see.
- To keep the service safe, including age-appropriate guardrails and abuse prevention.
- To maintain, secure, and improve the service.
- To respond to your requests and communicate with you about your account.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use student data for targeted advertising.
4. Student data and schools
When a school or district uses myvirtualteacher.ai, we process student information on the school's behalf and under its direction, as set out in our agreement with that school. The school controls the student records, and parents and eligible students may make access or correction requests through the school.
We use student information only to provide the educational service the school has asked for. Districts can request a data & privacy review as part of onboarding.
5. Children's privacy
Our service is designed for learners of many ages, including children under 13. When the service is used through a school, the school may consent to its educational use on parents' behalf, as the law allows. For personal accounts of children under 13, we ask a parent or guardian for consent. Parents and guardians can review or delete their child's information at any time by emailing kristine.k@myvirtualteacher.ai.
6. How we share information
- With your school, if your account is provided through one, including teachers and administrators with a legitimate educational interest.
- With parents or guardians, for accounts they manage.
- With service providers who help us run the service, such as hosting and AI model providers, under contracts that limit how they use the data.
- For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect the safety of learners and others.
- In a business transfer, subject to this policy's protections continuing to apply.
7. AI features, voice, and camera
Your teacher is an AI system. It can make mistakes, so learners should check important information with a teacher or trusted source. Voice and camera features are used only when you turn them on.
The teacher's memory of a learner, such as goals and preferences, can be viewed and deleted from account settings.
8. Retention and deletion
We keep personal information only as long as needed to provide the service or as required by law or our school agreements. When an account is closed, or a school ends its agreement with us, we delete or de-identify the related personal information within a reasonable time, unless the law requires us to keep it.
9. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. To make a request, email kristine.k@myvirtualteacher.ai. If your account is provided by a school, we may direct your request to that school.
10. Security
We use administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system is perfectly secure, and we will notify affected users and schools of a security incident as required by law.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you and, where required, schools and parents, before the changes take effect.
